A quick update from my re-affirmed favorite neighborhood in Brooklyn. There is very little damage to the neighborhood. I never lost power and since Brooklyn Heights is on a hill, we didn't flood at all up here. The worst I can report are some down tree limbs, but I didn't see any whole trees uprooted.
The neighborhood over from us in Brooklyn also fared much worse since it is more at river-level. The carousel in the Brooklyn Bridge Park in Dumbo flooded. Manhattan also seems to have fared worse -- the power is out below 36th street and the surge came up above 13 feet of water. The only lights I could see on in Manhattan this morning was the Empire State building and part of the Brooklyn Bridge. There are cars floating! I don't see anything like that in our neighborhood.
It seems some things in the neighborhood are even open today! Otherwise, I'm staying in and doing Hurricane Activity #3 - making a holiday mobile to hang :)
