Today, we visited the Baylander. It's been docked at Brooklyn Bridge Park's Pier 5. It was recently transferred to private ownership and is open for free to the public.
The Baylander was a Navy training carrier - the smallest aircraft carrier the Navy used. It was used as a place for helicopter pilots to practice landing on a boat the size of a postage stamp. It was pretty cool to go on it and walk all around!
