Lily and I had been visiting the lobster tank at our local fish store in Brooklyn so she'd see some lobsters before we came to Maine. She calls them "bobstas" which, if she could just say that L, she'd be pretty close to how Mainers say it too. Many of them don't say their r's either :)
This is the lobster tank at Hannaford's, a local grocery store, that also happened to be overlooking the water. Probably one of the prettier parking lots with a view.
Maine Day 1 was all about getting prepared for the week, eating some lobster and going to the beach on the last (and only) warmish day we were going to have in Portland. Good thing the beach is only one block away from us!
So, we don't have regular sized grocery stores in Brooklyn which means...we don't have regularly sized grocery carts either. Lily had never ridden in a grocery cart until Sunday. She thought it was pretty great. She could sit up high, see everything around her and not have to walk! Since she isn't accustomed to this, she did not try what most kids do and start reaching for things to put in the cart. It was pretty great!
We went to the Lobster Shack in Two Lights for lunch. We had to wait 15 minutes just to park the car! The lobster was great and Joe got the clam strips, which were very fresh. I don't think he was expecting that :)
After naptime, we hit the beach since it's only one block away from us. We were surprised (but shouldn't have been), when we saw the tide way out. Lily wanted to catch all the seagulls.
