Liliana has started a more regular fall schedule around more kiddos. Sometimes, that means when we're at home, she wants to do things by herself - like read and build. So, we're doing a lot of side by side reading and she's doing a lot of building and being proud of it!
For those of you who don't know, monkey bread is just biscuits that have been quartered, dropped in sugar, brown sugar and cinnamon and then baked together in the oven. So, cinnamon sugary-goodness.
It was the perfect toddler baking item. Lily measured and mixed the sugars in her own baking bowl and then I gave her the biscuits to cover with sugar. It was like playing with sugary sand. She covered up the pieces and then dropped them into the pumpkin dutch oven.
Our neighbors enjoyed some and Joe got some too. When it first came out of the oven, Liliana did not want to eat it at all. She didn't try her own baking creation until Saturday and by then it was almost all gone!
Liliana has turned into quite the little artist. She LOVES to paint and is very particular about it. Thea above picture is how she wanted to start one painting session. Since her hands aren't quite strong enough to squeeze the paint out herself, she tells me where to drop the paint.
You will notice that some of those blue dollops are close to each other. I noticed the same thing and mentioned as much to Lily. I even asked her, "Are you sure? You have more paint right there." Her response was, "Yes. Here." and pointing to go with it. Okay.
This particular canvas made it all the way to Joe's office in the city - complete with a purple wood frame around it.
Check out some of Liliana's art explorations in the last month!
Lily actually spotted an art fair in NYC on our way back from school one morning and really wanted to go in. She enjoyed the Fine Arts building at the Minnesota State Fair, so it's about the right time for us to start exploring art in the city.
There is a Children's Museum of Art in NYC, which I'll take Liliana to this week and I'm sure she's going to love it. We'll travel to the Met, Moma and Whitney sometime this Fall and Winter too :)
