The last couple of weeks has been one of projects. I started a fish/sea animal wall for Liliana so we could talk about colors and animals we might see when we go to Maine. Liliana played with the school calendar this week at Chinese class, so we got our own for home. And finally, we added magnets for her to learn and play with!
I'm working on some adult projects too and will post those in a few weeks :)
Bonus if you can find Liliana below!
We stopped to listen for a bit. He was a cellist performing Bach. Lily had never seen a cello before and she was entranced. We listened for a good while, even though we were on our way home for a nap. It's great when we happen upon good musicians in the subway or street, because Lily loves music and musicians but there are no kids' concerts in the city for kids her age. We have to wait until she's 3. So, we have to find free stuff around the city that she can watch, learn and absorb.
The MTA funds a program called Music Under New York and they hold annual auditions at Grand Central, which are open to the public to determine which artists get to play. They give the artists fancy, laminated placards so you know who they are and that they are professional artists. Not everyone is a classical artist - some are hip hop, reggae, and dance artists.
