In case anyone was wondering, Liliana still likes purses and bags. She fills them up with random stuff in the apartment and drags them around. The problem is, if she finds one that is mine, she doesn't want to give it up! She will tantrum if I take my purse/wallet away from her. Here you can see that one purse was not enough for her. She also needed our big market tote to carry all of her belongings!
Last week, Liliana and I had a car for the entire week. We thought we'd go down to the Aquarium on Coney Island. It's about a half an hour drive. On Monday when we attempted, we learned that Lily gets carsick. We were almost there and she vomited all over herself, the car seat and the car. So, I cleaned her up, put her back in the car seat and drove back home.
We tried again on Tuesday with some help from the peds office and we made it! Lily got to see the Sea Lion show, a walrus, and a bunch of fish. The Aquarium is pretty small.
We also walked out onto the boardwalk in Coney Island before we came home.
This is Lily's new tricycle. We got it from a mom up the street who was done with it. This thing is AWESOME.
You can see there is a push handle for me to use. She holds the handlebars and steers the front wheel but she doesn't yet pedal. Joe will teach her that soon. We haven't used the stroller all week because we've been walking around the neighborhood in the tricycle.
We realized after we went to the park with it that it is an attractive nuisance. Another mom took our trike down and put her own kid on it at the park! A bike lock is on its way for when we go to the park with the trike. We're also going to add a front basket to it so she can put all of her important belongings and bring them along for the ride!
Since this is a hodgepodge of an update, I will write as we see pictures.
We got Lily some new sunglasses. She doesn't love them, but will apparently tolerate them while her hands are busy with a bottle. She was definitely the cool kid that morning :)
Look! I can climb furniture! I turned around and she was on top of the coffee table ottoman we have. She didn't quite understand the concept of not climbing on furniture, since she does get to climb onto the couch. Furniture rules can be confusing.
So, to alleviate that confusion, we removed the lid of the ottoman and put it on the floor. Some of her books are stored in that ottoman anyway, so she has access to her books and can sit on her own personal table while she reads.
At some point though, I'll have to teach her not to climb on table-like surfaces?!
We had the car all week because we went to visit friends on Long Island on the North Fork. For reference, the Hamptons are on the South Fork of Long Island. Our friends rent a house in the summers and so Lily and I went and joined them for a couple days during the week. It took us about 2 hours by car to get there. We managed the carsickness but Lily still doesn't love the car seat.
Once we got there, it was great! Lily was happy to play with Gary (her playmate) and I was happy to see Carey. It was nice getting out of the city. We went to the park, the beach and to a little downtown in Greenport.
You can see Lily sporting her new swim dress and sunhat which miraculously stayed on her head. She was nervous in the water at first but then she became braver. We found some dead crabs and some little fish swimming in the water. She mostly liked picking up rocks and putting them in a pail. She basically found the beach version of a purse - a pail!
