I've been reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo. She writes about her own consultant work in helping people "tidy-up", a process that will quickly take 6 months of your life. By her estimation, that is quick given the span of your life. I can get on board with that.

I picked this book up at the very beginning of January based on a few reviews and my inability to find a blog by her online. I was at first, hoping to avoid adding more clutter to my shelves by not purchasing a hard copy book and instead, reading online tips. I was a little dubious when I bought the book.

Keep in mind, I have about 5 books started. All very good books, too. When I started this book one night, I didn't put it down for about an hour and had gotten through about 100 pages. I would have kept reading, but it was already midnight. Plus, I could tell that I had some mental work to do before I could really start her process. And her book is going to be the book that I pick up the next time I have space in my day to read.

So, instead of going on the de-cluttering arc that I was on, I'm going to recalibrate and join Marie Kondo through her process of tidying-up. Hopefully, I will only have to do it once.

Next time, what an ideal day will look like in my life. Drafting, thinking and writing it down will ultimately (theoretically) help me be more focused and de-clutter in a way that will be sustainable. Exactly what I want.
